DENTAL EXTRACTIONS

NEWS FLASH: Your pet DOES NOT need to show dental PAIN to have dental disease! ⁣

Think of your dogs teeth as little icebergs. We can only see the top 1/3rd! Unfortunately, this means there is a lot of the tooth that we can’t see! ⁣

We use tools like anaesthetized oral exam, dental probing, and X-rays to evaluate the condition of the teeth and to evaluate for periodontal disease. ⁣

WHEN DO WE REMOVE TEETH? ⁣

- The tooth is losing gum tissue, bone tissue and/or roots⁣

- The tooth is loose ⁣

- There is obvious tooth pain ⁣

- The tooth has an abscess ⁣

WHY REMOVE TEETH? ⁣

- Despite your pet not showing obvious signs of dental pain.... diseased teeth ARE painful ⁣

- Periodontal disease is one of the most frequent and widespread inflammatory diseases in dogs⁣

- Bacteria from the mouth can be spread throughout the body causing damage to distant organs like the heart, kidneys, liver, etc. ⁣
